The 5th APIRA International Conference was successfully held in Lijiang, China during Dec 20-24, 2008.

There were more than 20 specialists and scholars from China (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), EU, Korea, Japan and Malaysia attended this meeting and showed their surveys, which not only includes the areas of the latest Internet development and infrastructure as well as the Internet Survey Methodology, but also some hot topics, such as the blog, the Internet Community, the Wireless Internet etc. Meanwhile, the comparative report in Asia Pacific Region was the most attractive highlight to the attendees, which aroused a hot discussion. More and more countries and regions are willing to join this joint survey.

Moreover, the board of APIRA has discussed the current constitution, the membership application and the method of expanding the influence of APIRA. It was resolved that the APIRA annual conference will be enlarged in the future. And the next meeting will be held in Hong Kong in May, 2009, which will be hosted by the City University of Hong Kong.
