prepare upcoming Ubiquitous society. The yearbook published
as consecutive 5th, discusses newly produced statistical information
in the wide-area of 'Internet infrastructure', 'Internet usage',
'Internet business', 'digital divide', 'next generation Internet'
and 'Internet usage abroad', etc.
According to the yearbook, as of 2005, Korea ranks
top level of the broadband Internet penetration rate in the
whole world, and raised itself from the 7th to the 3rd in the
national informatization index. Korea also has the 4th amount
of allocated IPv6 addresses while it had the 8th amount of those
in the previous year. It turns out to solidify its status as
the IT strong power.
On the other hand, after online music sites transferred
their music service from free to charged, the total number of
users to all online music sites has decreased. However, it expands
aggressively to use the newly appeared music service connected
wired to wireless. 'Open Market' also grows rapidly which is
one of C2C marketplaces.
In the negative aspect, the risks of financial fraud
such as Phishing have grown drastically, and cyber violation
including defamation of character, privacy intrusion has deteriorated
Internet use, which makes positive atmosphere with the majority
of public agreement about adopting the real-name system on the
Internet.
The 2005 yearbook deals with the trend of next generation
Internet technologies which are the key forces in the Ubiquitous
era and the most competitive for development among countries
such as 'BcN', 'telematics', 'RFID', 'portable Internet' and
'home networking'.
