Taiwan Network Information Center
The
establishment of the Taiwan Network Information Center
(TWNIC) falls into the following three major stages:
Stage
1: March 1994 to June 1996- the Taiwan Network Information
Center 2-Year Experimental Program;
Stage 2: June 1996 to April 1998-operation of the Taiwan
Network Information Center under the Computer Society
of the ROC (CSROC);
Stage 3: April 1998 to December 1999-on April 1998,
the Nll decided the Directorate-General of Telecommunication
was the authority of the TWNIC to draw up budget for
helping the center to transform info a corporation.
The TWNIC was officially completed the corporation registration
on 29 December 1999.
The
TWNIC is the unique neutral and non-profit organization
that takes charge of the domain name registration and
IP address allocation in Taiwan. Besides offering full
range network services, the TWNIC participates in various
related international conferences, in hopes to provide
the best services for network service providers in Taiwan
through public participation and constant improvements,
which are the biggest goal of the TWNIC. We hope to
bring the best to the society, and the society can give
us greater supports and encouragements, and ultimately
to assure the healthy and rapid growth of the Internet
industry in Taiwan.
Mission:
1.
Providing specialized Internet services, including domain
name and IP/ASN registration and management, as well
as directory and database access; in addition, promoting
Internet business in Taiwan in a spirit of non-profit,
mutual and impartial sharing of network Source
2. Coordinating and facilitating activities and cooperation
between national and international Internet-related
organizations
3. Assisting the industry in the promotion of nationwide
Internet use, and coordinating the exchange and integration
of Internet information services
